A simple plea for simple health

A simple plea for simple health

I don't know much about dieting or losing weight. I'm not very good at either of them. Any diet I've tried has usually ended miserably in binge eating Ghirardelli double fudge brownies. So if you want to figure out how to drop some pounds and muster up the self-control to finish out that juice cleanse, this is not the place (I did a juice cleanse once, it lasted for about sixteen hours' I was asleep for eight of those hours).

Instead of dieting and cleansing and starving myself, I do my best to enjoy healthy foods and enjoy exercise. While enjoying food comes pretty easily to me, the latter takes a little more effort. I could eat all day long, but motivating me to go out and run a couple miles takes some extra work.

If you have the same problem as I do, start simple. Find something you like doing. It could be running, playing badminton, biking, weightlifting, yoga-ing, swimming, walking, dancing, climbing, anything. Just move, every day. It doesn't have to be in a gym or on a track. Find something you love and carve out fifteen or thirty minutes to do it. Make it a social event and find a friend to exercise with you. Exercising releases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Make a habit of happy.

We have all been given incredible bodies capable of amazing things. Maybe you aren't thrilled with your physique right now, but you still have to admit, your body is awesome. It's keeping you alive and breathing and reading right now. So be kind to it.
