A final student-led U-Church of the fall semester will be this Sunday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 in the Conn Center.

This service will be led by various Lee University students and will feature many diverse styles of worship, according to a press release.

Come to the Table is put on every semester with a new theme and experience to create an environment of worship and authenticity. This semester's theme will be "Move," which was established during the fall Convocation.

"Move" is based on the narrative in the Scripture found in 1 Samuel 14, which focuses on Jonathan's desire to take a risk in his faith, according to the press release.

Dr. Brad Moffett is a music professor and the director of Lee's chapel band and heavily involved in U-Church.

“The Come to the Table event strives to provide our students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to celebrate the Lord's Supper together," said Moffett in the press release.

Moffett said the event inspires people to move and take a risk, "since God made the ultimate move toward us by reconciling us to Himself through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus,” Moffett added.

Joyce Lane, Secretary to the Director of Facilities Management, said she thinks Come to the Table is so different from other U-Church concerts because it is student-designed in addition to student-led.

"There is a creative team including many members of the Chapel Band that meets weekly each semester to prayerfully consider the theme, structure and special elements for the evening of worship," said Lane.

Lane went on to say that while Lee is fortunate to have all the guest artists that it does, she thinks it is great for students to be led by their own peers.

"There is something very special about the student body coming together and worshiping through song and the taking of communion," Lane said.

U-Church is a free, non-ticketed event open to students, alumni, and the community. Seating is first come, first served. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
