Lee Flames and Lady Flames Cross-Country headed to Saint Leo, Florida on Saturday Nov. 19 to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championship and finish off their season.

The Flames placed 18th out of 32 with 525 points. Last year they placed 25th. Three Flames placed in the top 100 out of the 242 runners. Junior Harold Smith was Lee’s top runner, placing 81st overall with a time of 32:04.2. Junior Seth Eagleson placed 88th with a time of 32:09.4 and Freshman Christian Noble placed 96th with a time of 32:14.0

The Lady Flames made their very first appearance at the Division II National Championship. 240 runners participated. Junior Audrey Smith was first of the Lee runners to finish, placing 65th with a time of 21:57.0. Sophomore Amy Carpenter was the second Flame to finish, placing 159th with a time of 22:59.4. Blakely Moore placed 188th with a time of 23:32.4. Overall, the Lady Flames placed 28th out of 32 teams with 751 points.

The Flames' basketball team played their first official game at home this season. Both the Flames and Lady Flames faced Brescia University Saturday and pulled out a win.

The men stayed ahead the entire game, scoring 46 points in the first half and 47 in the second, finishing 93-77. Saturday's game was also the first official home opener for the New Head Coach Bubba Smith. Senior Keevin Tyus completed a double-double, scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Five players scored double-figures. The Flames advance to 2-1. They will be heading to Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday Nov. 26 to face off against Palm Beach Atlantic and then on Sunday Nov. 27 face Lynn University.

The Lady Flames also led the game against Brescia, finishing the first half 40-21. They ended the game with a score of 83-47. Junior Carrie Cheeks also completed a double-double scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Lady Flames will advance to 3-1 and will return to Walker Arena on Nov. 29 when they face Fisk University.
