Not a professional photographer, but managed to capture some amazing snapshots of your first year at Lee? Lee’s office of First Year Programs is sponsoring the fourth annual freshman photo contest, and they are currently accepting email submissions from all freshmen.

The contest will reward one lucky winner with $50 cash, but all submissions have a chance to be featured during the “Love Your Mama” chapel this semester, which honors freshmen for completing their first year at Lee.

First Year Programs Student Worker Breanna Long said the contest is one of the first projects that she has been able to lead as a freshman. She has already sent in her pictures and is looking forward to seeing more submissions.

“It’s a great way for me to be able to see what all of my peers have done throughout the year,” Long said.

First Year Programs staff members will review all submissions before selecting the winner, who will be announced during the “Love Your Mama” chapel.

Savannah Stone, a sophomore First Year Programs student worker, reminisced on how much seeing the slideshow of pictures meant to her last year during the chapel service.

“It’s one of the biggest tear-jerkers of the entire service because it allows students to see themselves and remember what they’ve [experienced] that year,” Stone said.

Stone emphasized that the contest is not so much about photo quality as it is about capturing moments in time that are personally meaningful to freshmen.

“Anybody can submit because everybody has those moments,” said Stone.

Freshmen interested in participating in the contest can submit one or multiple photos to freshmanphotocontest@gmail.com by April 1, 2017.
