Homecoming draws crowd for Volley For A Cure

A packed Walker Arena housed the annual Volley For a Cure match this Homecoming weekend.

The Lady Flames swept a 3-0 win over West Georgia.

Each year the women raise money to support the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation, which provides scholarships for children who have lost a parent due to breast cancer or have a parent who is a breast cancer survivor.

Over the past 10 years, Volley For A Cure has raised over $150,000 through T-shirt sales, silent auctions and baked goods sales.

It was also senior night for Ellisia Kimble, Silvia Sartori, Kristi Farley, Sadie Johnson and Brooke Wilsman.

Along with the Lady Flames win, Silvia Sartori scored her 1000th kill.

The Lady Flames are 17-8 overall and 8-5 in conference play, making them sixth in the GSC standings. The top six teams make it to the GSC tournament, which is set for Nov. 17-19.

This past week the women's team made their very first appearance in the NCAA South Region Rankings.

The women fought again Saturday to win against Montevallo. On Nov. 10, They head down to play West Florida (ranked #10 in the GSC) and Valdosta State (ranked #9).
