Three seniors on the Lady Flames soccer team were named Preseason All-GSC Team early August, indicating a promising season.

Summer Lanter, Haley Gribler and McKenzie Bricker, all seniors, found out a week before the season started that they had earned the honors.

According to head coach Chris Hennessey, all three are passionate about the game and just want to win.

“They’re fantastic leaders that set the bar high,” Hennessey said. “They are consistent and the hardest working people on the field. That’s why they’ve been recognized.”

With 37 goals for the Flames under her belt, red shirt senior Summer Lanter has led the Lady team in goals scored every season she has played.

“I was honored to be named Preseason All-GSC Team,” Lanter said.

According to Lanter, she expects herself to be a leader for the team through her work ethic and determination. She hopes these values will take the team far in postseason.

Haley Gribler, a red shirt senior goalkeeper, finished last season with 42 saves.

Gribler says fans can expect a lot of shutouts—as well as her voice cracking while yelling during games.

McKenzie Bricker, a transfer to Lee, has scored eight goals in the two seasons she's been on the team.

“It was an honor to be recognized, and I was really happy to have gotten it for my final season,” Bricker said.

According to Lanter, the Lady Flames have high expectations for the team this year, complete with talented players who really want to compete.

“We're a very close knit team and have a large senior class, which just means we're willing to work that much harder for each other because we know it's not only our last season of soccer, but also the last time we'll get to play next to the girls standing to our right and our left,” Bricker said.

The Lady Flames were GSC regular season co-champions last season, having a (14-3-2) overall record. They qualified for the NCAA National Tournament two years in a row.
