SPORTS BRIEF: Flames soccer shines in their home opener vs Bellarmine

“Putting the ball in the back of the net symbolized a product of the work we have put in as a team throughout preseason and the start of the season. Both goals were absolute team goals, it just came down to executing,” Aidan Moore said about his two goals and the team’s performance.

The Lee men’s soccer team came out firing in their home opener against Bellarmine on Saturday, Sept. 8. In their first home game of the season, with the stands filled to the brim, the Flames put on quite the show.

Freshman standout Aidan Moore found the back of the net twice in his home debut, as senior midfielder Palle Jespersen assisted on all three of the goals scored.

“Putting the ball in the back of the net symbolized a product of the work we have put in as a team throughout preseason and the start of the season," Moore said. "Both goals were absolute team goals; it just came down to executing."

The Flames controlled the pace of the game and were able to combine their offensive play with a defensive shutout, coasting to a 3-0 victory.

The Flames are back in action tonight at 7 against 5th-ranked Young Harris College.
