Lee golfer Judianne Speach has been named the 2020 GSC Women’s Golf Champion Scholar-Athlete.

This is the first year the league office has given out the Champion Scholar-Athlete Award. Normally, the award would be handed out at the site of each GSC Championship, but this is unable to occur due to the cancellation of the conference’s spring competition this year.

“Judianne is an example of perseverance and excellence.  She is one of the most determined individuals I have had the privilege of coaching, and she applies that determination to every area of her life,” said John Maupin, head coach golf coach at Lee. “She has excelled during her time at Lee University on and off the course.  I’m so happy to see her receive this well-deserved recognition.  She will be a great representative of the GSC and Lee University in the next phase of her life.”

GPA is based on the most recently completed term, and the individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours to be eligible for the award. Student-athletes are only eligible to win the award one time per academic year.

Speach, a senior mathematics major from Nicholasville, Kentucky, has a 4.0 GPA and has completed 133 credit hours.
