In an update sent to the student body today, President Mark Walker announced COVID-19 cases rose over the past week with many students currently in quarantine.

“It’s no secret that the number of COVID cases in our area has significantly increased over the past week,” Walker said. “On our campus we presently have 74 active cases. We are praying for swift and full recovery for all of those who are ill with the virus right now, and they will get back with us on campus soon.”

As clubs around campus plan events and athletics are starting back up, Walker emphasized administration is staying vigilant to keep students, faculty and staff safe. This includes current campus guidance to wear masks while indoors.

“I don’t want to trivialize the number of cases, but I think it’s important to know that the cases represent less than 2% of our campus population. Although the cases are up, the percentage is small,” said Walker. “It’s important that we stay vigilant in our efforts to keep one another safe.”
