Lee University is gearing up for Spring 2021 graduation, which begins on May 7. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the commencement ceremonies look much different this year. Due to the pandemic, this is the university’s first in-person graduation since December 2019.

To comply with coronavirus precautions on campus, Lee will host six graduation ceremonies over the weekend, rather than one. Each ceremony will feature select academic areas. Attendance to each ceremony will be by ticket, only.

Friday, May 7 at the Paul Dana Walker Arena

  • 1 p.m. Department of Communication Arts and the School of Music, Undergraduate Ceremony

  • 4 p.m. Departments of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Natural Sciences, Undergraduate Ceremony

  • 7 p.m. School of Nursing, School of Religion and Lee Online, Undergraduate Ceremony

Saturday, May 8 at the Paul Dana Walker Arena

  • 8:30 a.m. Master’s Ceremony

  • 11:30 a.m. Department of Language and Literature and the College of Education, Undergraduate Ceremony

  • 2:30 p.m. Department of History, Political Science, Humanities and School of Business, Undergraduate Ceremony

Upon arriving on campus, guests must receive clearance at the health screening station located at each graduation viewing venue. The screening includes a temperature check and the completion of a COVID-19 screening questionnaire. The questionnaire will be posted on the Lee University website, and guests should be ready to show their questionnaire upon request.

Guests should be prepared to wear a mask during their time on campus.

Lee University asks that all guests allot enough time to be seated 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Seating is first-come, first-served, and the doors will open approximately an hour before the start of the ceremony.

Guest seating will be paused 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony for the graduation processional.

The commencement ceremonies have limited seating available due to the pandemic. All guests are required to have an admission ticket.

There will be secondary venues available for guests who do not receive a ticket. These venues are also first-come, first-served, with limited seating. Conn Center, Dixon Center and Squires Recital Hall will be open for guest seating.

Handicap parking is available at most venues on campus, and accessible seating accommodations are available via the Graduation Office.

Childcare will be provided for children up to four years of age at the Early Learning Center. Childcare drop-off will begin 30 minutes before the doors open for seating.
