The Flames basketball team is currently 18-8 overall and 14-6 in the conference, making them the third seed and hosts of the quarterfinal round of the GSC championship. They will play against the University of West Florida on March 1 at 8 p.m. in Paul Dana Walker Arena.

“We will have to find ways to make our own adjustments Tuesday and stay together and connected as a team. We have been doing some things well and we must continue to do those things, while eliminating mistakes and executing well late in games. I think we have grown in those areas the last month of our season and it has produced some winning basketball," men’s head coach Bubba Smith told Lee Athletic Communications.

If the Flames win, they will advance to the semifinal round on Saturday at the Pete Hanna Center on Samford University’s campus in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Lady Flames are third seed as well, with a 22-6 and 15-5 record, and are hosting the quarterfinal round of the championship. They will play Mississippi College on March 1 at 6 p.m. in the Paul Dana Walker Arena.

"We are excited to host another quarterfinal game, but we also know every team is capable of winning this time of the year. Only good teams are left, and we will need to be at our best if we expect to move on," women’s head coach Marty Rowe told Lee Athletic Communications.

If the Lady Flames win, they will also advance to the semifinal round and compete on the same campus as the Flames.

Both teams have successful home game records, with the men at 10-2 and the women at 12-2.
