1. Alumni Acevedo wins Latin GRAMMY

Lee University’s Robert Acevedo Jr. recently received the 2022 Latin GRAMMY for Best Children’s Album for his participation in Sofia’s “A la Fiesta da la Musica Vamos Todos” in which he was a percussionist.

“Winning a Latin Grammy isn’t just an award for me,” said Acevedo. “It’s a testimony on how God has blessed me as an individual, and I couldn’t be more humbled and happier to have received this blessing in my life. I give God all the glory and all the honor!”

Acevedo graduated Lee with a degree in pastoral ministry in 2018, and now owns and operates Rimshot Studios. Rimshot Studios specializes in music, production, and recording.

2. Your everything-to-know Guide to Celebrating Galentine's Day (Ahem, *the* Best Day of the Year)

Today, Feb. 13, is widely known as ‘Galentine’s Day’ amongst friend groups.

Cosmopolitan Magazine calls the day “a friendship version of Valentine’s day – a whole day dedicated to celebrating platonic love.”

The day resembles a sense of getting together and giving gifts that show love those around you. It’s typically centered around female bonding and empowerment, but does not mean guys can not join in too!

The origin of Galentine’s Day stems from the popular tv series “Parks and Recreation,” where a character named Leslie Knope gathered her close friends together for a brunch.

In the episode called “Galentine’s Day” Leslie said, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast style,” she explains in the episode. “Ladies celebrating ladies.”

3. Rihanna performed a medley of her greatest hits in a dazzling solo halftime show

Rihanna, on a suspended stage over several dancers below, brought a spectacular performance during the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Sunday night.

The stage, lit up in an ambient red with dancers dressed in white surrounding it, took up nearly the entire length of the field. Fireworks also covered the top of the dome throughout the entirety of the show, especially during the solo performance of Rihanna’s hit song “Diamonds” that finished out the pop star’s performance.

Unfortunately, Rihanna did not debut any new music, but many news sources commented on the appearance of a baby bump through her hot red jumpsuit.
