Suggestions

*Make as many close friends as possible without neglecting your job or class work.

*Get connected with something on campus, whether it be a group of random people, a job, a volunteer service group, a club, intramurals, Bible study, etc.

*Try to avoid getting too many loans; you will regret it to some degree if you could have worked and put some of your money towards school.

*Try the cafeteria food at least once!

*Get to know your teachers well and soon. Ask them questions about life and their personal experience. Meet with them for lunch and visit their churches.

*Find a church home as soon as possible and find a couple friends that will be accountable to going with you. Most college students do not go to church by the time they are done with school because they don’t have much accountability to go every week.

*Find out where all the good restaurants are in town: The Spot, Earl’s, Gardener’s Market, Farmhouse, etc.

*Get familiar with student discount possibilities. Many fast-food restaurants offer free drinks when buying a meal if the Lee student shows their Lee ID.

*Know what is open 24 hours a day: Denny’s, IHOP, Walgreen’s, Wal-Mart and McDonald’s

*Become familiar with the location of the following offices because you will be seeing them often: Residential Life, the Business Office, the Leonard Center, the Health Clinic, Counseling and Career, Post Office and the Financial Aid Office.

*Get a headstart on your service hours through the Leonard Center and make sure you document your service experiences in order to get credit for them. This opportunity can be one of the best experiences you have at Lee. Go somewhere neat with a group of people (random or known) and get to know people and serve. I went to Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina twice with a group from Lee and I have memories from those trips that surpass much of my other experiences at Lee.

*Spend many long nights studying as well as sharing your heart and thoughts with others. Relationships are made in college that can last until we all pass away.

*Do not rush into any romantic relationships. Guard carefully your heart and take your time in your pursuit of a husband or wife. It will be right when it is not forced.
