Top 10 homecoming events students shouldn’t miss

10. Flames Alumni Baseball Game: There’s nothing like a good baseball game in the middle of November. Support the previous generations of Lee Flames baseball players on Friday at 2 p.m. on Olympic Field.

9. Student Organizations Exhibit: For the alumni or for the students? A little of both. Student clubs and organizations will be spread along the Sharp Pedestrian Mall for everyone to see what their all about. The exhibit will be on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

8. Alpha Gamma Chi vs. Upsilon Xi Football Game: Football game at Lee? That’s right, go watch a sport that you don’t see on Lee’s campus everyday. The men of Alpha Gamma Chi will be taking on the men of Upsilon Xi at 10 p.m. on Friday night at the Jack Souther Field.

7. Homecoming 5K run: The tradition continues; the annual run will begin 8 a.m. at the Paul Conn Student Union on Saturday morning. Nothing like starting out the day with a 5K run.

6. EVS 40th Anniversary: This year the choir is celebrating quite a milestone, 40 years. Though the group will be participating in the Music Festival and singing with the mass choir alongside Phil Stacey, their anniversary concert will be held at Pleasent Grove Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.

5. Flames & Lady Flames Homecoming Basketball Game: The highlight of the Homecoming weekend, for current students at least, is the Homecoming basketball game, complete with special half-time presentations and the crowning of queen. The Lady Flames take the court at noon on Saturday, followed by the men at 2:15 p.m.

4. Theatre Production - Trojan Women: The fall production of Trojan Women will be extended through the Homecoming festivivies. Students can pick up a free ticket for the event at the box office during the day this week by showing a current Lee ID.

3. Music Festival: Lee’s choirs and music ensembles will showcase their talents to students and visitors alike on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Lee Singers and EVS will be celebrating their 45th anniversary and 40th anniversary, respectively.

2. Lady Flames Volley for a Cure: To kick off the Volley for a Cure events on Friday afternoon, the ladies of Zeta Chi Lambda will be hosting a benefit concert starring Lee’s own Phil Stacey. The girls will also be hosting a Pink Party directly before the Volley for a Cure game set to begin at 7 p.m. in the Walker Arena.

1. Flames Basketball Game (vs. Temple): Undoubtedly, the biggest game of the season. And, it’s the season opener. What student wouldn’t want to attend the game? Wear your blue and maroon and support the team. The Flames game is set to begin at 8 p.m on Thursday.
