The stresses of college life
It’s hard out there for a college student. Most college students at Lee have jobs, are involved on campus, take care of their dorms or apartments, and sometimes they manage to find time to go to class and do homework. This type of schedule should not go unnoticed by professors. Some college students have not been blessed financially and have to work their way through college, or risk being unable to go.
So where does the college student draw the line between work and school? So many people who think they can’t afford college or balance a tight schedule end up dropping out altogether, leaving themselves with limited job options in the future. Some people never even get a real job during college, having everything paid for by parents, or scholarships, which come easy to the student who has nothing he or she HAS to do other than homework and class. However, this looks bad to future employers and doesn’t really help out your resume much.
If you have any financial support from your parents whatsoever, be thankful. This means you can put schoolwork as a priority and focus on your education. Sadly, many students have to resort to working their way to through college by themselves, or taking out expensive loans. It’s a vicious cycle – the more the student works, the less he or she has time to spend on schoolwork. But the more classes he or she has to take, the more money he or she needs to make. What can a college student do in order to balance their schedule?
The answer is to trust in God. All those long nights working while your friends are out having fun will be worth it when you have your dream job doing something you love. All those long hours at school will be worth it once you turn in your application to the graduate school of your choice. Don’t give up – the journey is hard, but the reward is endless. God will never leave you nor forsake you, even during college!
