Eat, See, Free

With convocation week under our belts it's time to try something new this weekend. If you are looking for tacos, a taste of the city and a great new band, we have the perfect weekend line-up for you.

EAT

If Tex-Mex is exactly what you need this weekend, look no further than Taco Mamacita. You can get any two tacos and a side for $8.99. They are not your traditional tacos either. With fan favorites like the "Sloppy José", "General Homeboy" and "California Club" tacos, the menu will peak the curiosity of your inner foodie. Taco Mamacita will have you adding queso to the top of your list of love languages and craving their unique flavor combinations after your first experience.

SEE

Chattanooga's music scene is developing and delightful. If you are into the indie, alternative, or even bluegrass music there are great local options available. One of my all-time favorite places in Chattanooga is The Camp House. The Camp House is a music venue, coffee house, and church. This week, The Camp House is featuring two artists. Jenny & Tyler, a sweet husband-and-wife pop-folk duo, are holding an album release show on Saturday, September 26th. For $10 in advance, this concert would be a fun and inexpensive way to try something new and hear some great live music on Saturday night. John Mark McMillan, a Christian songwriter, is having a show on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Camp House also regularly hosts singer-songwriter shootouts where local performers compete in an open mic style tournament. The Camp House is a great place to see a band, talk about God, or eat a waffle.

FREE

Tonight, Friday Sept. 25, Rock Creek is hosting a block party in Miller Plaza to celebrate Chattanooga's second victory in Outside Magazine's "Best Town Ever". There will be three bands performing, food, and entertainment. The bands will include The Creative Underground, a Motown set, Smooth Dialects, a funk/jazz band and Shark Week, an indie rock band. In a celebration of what makes Chattanooga the best town ever, this is a great opportunity to see what the city has to offer. The event will be from 6 PM to 9:45 PM. All music and entertainment will be free, but vendors and food trucks will be charging for food.
