Aubrianna Brown, Editor in Chief: My name is Aubrianna, and I am a senior journalism major! I am from Newport, Tennessee and recently moved to Cleveland when I started my degree at Lee. I love telling people’s stories! I am so excited to spend my last semester as the Editor in Chief for Lee Clarion!

McKenna Denton, Senior Reporter: McKenna is a sophomore digital media major with an emphasis in journalism. When she is not typing away at her laptop, she can likely be found listening to classic rock, reading a biography, watching an old movie, or playing with her miniature golden doodle, Coop. McKenna enjoys working for the Clarion, because it allows her to use her passion for writing while collaborating with friends.

Emma Sargent, Photographer: Emma is a junior art education major with a minor in graphic design. When Emma isn't taking pictures for the Clarion, you can find her making art, studying the word of God, or taking senior portraits for high school seniors in Cleveland. She has a love for creating whether it be through photography or an art medium. Lee Clarion has shown Emma her passion of photographing genuine student and staff moments at Lee University.

Emme Lowder, Photographer: Emme is a junior studio art major, with a minor in psychology, with hopes to pursue a career in art therapy after she graduates. While she's not at school or working, she will most likely be home with her cat, reading, doing crafts or spending time with her family and friends. Emme enjoys working at Lee Clarion as one of the photographers and hopes that her pictures show the life behind some of the amazing stories we have!

Lesley Bryant, Photographer: Lesley is a freshman theatre major with an emphasis in musical theatre and can typically be found on stage or rehearsing for her next production. Lesley was born and raised here in Cleveland and is happy to be attending college so close to home. She has loved her time at Lee and being a part of the Clarion has been a highlight! She is excited to see where the future takes her!

Our History

The Lee Clarion was first published on October 30, 1946 at the Bible Training School and College in Sevierville as “Campus Hi-Lites” - the institution’s first student newspaper.

Following the school’s move to Cleveland, the paper was renamed “The Clarion” before changing to a monthly magazine format titled “Omnibus” in the 1980s. The journal was again renamed the “Lee Collegian” in 1986 and later returned to the traditional name “The Lee Clarion” in spring 2004.

For the first time in nearly four years, the Lee Clarion published a print edition in Sept. 2019. Among other stylistic changes, the print format was redesigned toward a cleaner and more simplistic aesthetic.

Lee Clarion is a student-run news organization. It is a teaching tool of the Lee University Communication Arts Department. Opinions expressed here do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the university or administration.
