Lady Flames Claim Two GSC Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Lee University lacrosse team claimed two weekly awards the Gulf South Conference office announced on Monday morning.

Brittney White was named the player of the week and Avery Schenk was tabbed the freshman of the week.

White recorded 19 goals, three assists, and 16 draw controls in the Lady Flames 2-0 weekend. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native set the GSC and Lee record with 11 scores against Lander and threw in eight in the Lee win over Young Harris.

"Brittney chose a great time to increase her scoring pace against our conference foes Young Harris and Lander. Those were crucial games and she stepped up in all facets of the game," Martin relayed.

Schenk was named the freshman of the week for the second time this season.

"You can see Avery's confidence grow every game, and she is already a vital component of our offense. She has great awareness on the field, and I expect that she will just keep improving," noted Martin.

The Zeeland, Michigan native posted a goal and assist to go with three ground balls.

You can catch White and Schenk and the rest of the Lady Flames wrap up conference play on Sunday as they take on Alabama Huntsville beginning at 2 p.m.
