Dorm Wars 2025: Pics or it didn't happen

Dorm Wars returned to the Paul Dana Walker Area on Oct. 7. The night was full of surprise appearances and friendly competition. President Dr. Phil Cook welcomed students and faculty to the games.

After introductions, each dorm presented a themed dance. Sharp-Davis Hall and Keeble Dirksen row teamed up in a Shrek-themed swamp-soiree. Cross-Tharp and Livingston Hall partnered for “Lee Beach Movie” based on popular Disney movie, Teen Beach Movie. The final female dorms, Atkins Ellis Hall and Storms Hall, joined together to form a team called “AE & The Chipmunks: Stormswrecked.”

The male dorms came to impress with their themed dances as well. Medlin Hall returned to the competition in partnership with New Hughes as “Jurassic Hughes: Rebirth of Medlin.” Bowdle O’ Bannon Hall presented the theme “Pirates of the BOB-eann,” and B.L. Hicks Hall with Brinsfield Row rounded out the male dormitory teams as “Bricks Up” based on the movie Surfs Up.

The teams cheered for each other as they entered the arena for the competition.

A classic at Dorm Wars, the shopping cart relay race, takes members of each team across the arena until all team members have completed the course.

Every year, the Dorm Wars planning commitee will include a mystery event. This year dorms competed until only one was left standing after a battle of the bubbles.

The last event of the night involves a dizzy bat race to the finish. Each competitor must spin around a number of times before attempting to hop through tires, crawl through a tunnel, swing on a rope suspended from the arena ceiling, and finally, jump over a barricade.

However, only one team from each male and female dormitory can win. Points from each game, audience participation, and overall team spirit are tallied at the end of the night.

The winning dorms this year were Cross Tharp and Livingston, representing the female dormitories, and New Hughes in partnersip with Medlin, for the males.
