Club Lee Spotlight: Lee Men's Volleyball Club

Club sport options on campus are growing, and Men’s Volleyball Club is having a winning time.

Club Founder and President Connor Peters got the team together in 2022.

“It's funny because I started the club because I wanted to play more and it progressively grew a lot more than I thought it would so it's been kind of fun," said Peters.

Even though the club started a little over a year ago, they have already won in multiple home and away tournaments through the past year.

Members who have had prior experience playing volleyball find the level of play at each of these tournaments to be highly competitive. Michael Borosak, freshman setter who played in high school, believes the club has done very well with matching up against the schools they face.

“It's not just guys messing around, you know, there's good competition and I went to the recent UAB Tournament in Birmingham and that was a lot of fun. There were a lot of good teams there and we did pretty well for ourselves. So I’d say the competition is pretty up there,” Borosak said.

One of the things that comes with being a successful club is camaraderie, and the club has that.

“We normally go get food somewhere as a team right when we get to the city. Then we check in to the hotel or wherever we’re staying and set our stuff down. Then we’ll normally walk around the campus of the school that we’re playing at just to see what it’s like,” said outside hitter Brett Lloyd.

The Men’s Volleyball Club’s next tournament is November 4 at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
